About Us

During his 30 years of practice, at his workshops on the south coast, Peter Holtby has collected a wealth of knowledge in the art of clock making and has gathered a team of individual craftsmen to assist in the creation of new clocks, and the restoration of antique examples. His workshop is now based in the Mediterranean, on the beautiful island of Malta.

Most new, and individual designs, are created by our local designer who is a fully qualified graphical artist. She has exceptional flair for designing clock frames which create a new light on a traditional style. She is also a highly skilled dial restorer.

Our case maker was also trained at West dean College. His absorbing interest in clocks has led to an accomplished mastery when building our clock cases and creating the bases for Skeleton Clocks. He is also excels in the art of polishing.

Our United Kingdom workshop, in Hampshire, is ably run by Danae Holtby after many years, on site, training. She is fully skilled in all aspects of Horological repair and resoration work. This has allowed Peter to move to Malta to concentrate on Skeleton clock creation and the more technical problems in the Wheel and pinion field. Another service, now offered in Malta, is a large range of hand piercing services.

Other skilled people who assist us are engineers and engravers. They develop the special tools required for unusual and difficult engineering problems, and engrave the dials and cartouches.

Most clocks produced are built in the traditional style, because Peter has a great love for these styles, but also because the majority of ardent skeleton clock collectors have similar tastes. One unusual feature of our clocks, which gives us great pride, is the different styles of our wheel crossings.
